The Heritage & Restoration Group is always looking to provide the best service possible for our clients. For projects that require that little extra restoration we offer our second choice of painting system using Linseed oil fillers and paints.
This option requires all paint coats to be removed from the sashes for the best results. Please see our Restoration Grade II Package.
Once stripped the windows are now ready for the paint application. Linseed Oil paints have many benefits from modern day paints. It is environmentally friendly, pretty much lasts forever without the need to be reapplied and doesn’t flake or peel. It doesn’t have a strong smell, need primers or undercoats and comes in a range a colours.
Should reapplication be needed it is just a case of wiping on Linseed oil to relieve the existing paint. With an estimated re-coat time of 10 years. It can also be applied to other surfaces with equally fantastic results, wood won’t rot, iron won’t rust and plaster won’t crumble.
Sikkens Rubbol Satura Plus
Sikkens Rubbol Satura Plus is a solvent borne, opaque satin finish coating, based on modified alkyd resins. 5 year maintenance cycles, and its excellent opacity and microporous characteristics, make it a true low-maintenance product for exterior use which is well regarded by specifiers within the maintenance industry.
Sikkens Rubbol Satura Plus is suitable for interior or exterior use on timber prepared with Sikkens Rubbol Primer Plus (originally known as Sikkens Onol), and on suitably primed metal substrates. Sikkens Rubbol Satura Plus provides excellent durability, reduces chalking on long term exposure and affords the necessary abrasion resistance required for application indoors.
Sikkens Rubbol BL Satura
Sikkens Rubbol BL Satura is a water-borne opaque satin paint finish for suitably primed and previously painted interior surfaces. Sikkens Rubbol BL Satura is a direct replacement for traditional solvent-borne satin finishes. Rubbol BL Satura produces an extremely tough and durable coating, offering excellent resistance to abrasion and staining.
Linseed Oil Paint
Linseed oil paint can be applied on any surface. It protects the substrate from weather and wind, the ravages of time and the changing seasons. In Sweden, as in the rest of Europe, there is a long tradition of painting buildings and interiors with linseed oil paint. The reason the paint has survived for 500 years is because it really does provide protection to the substrate on which you are painting.

Our client says…
The Heritage & Restoration Group Ltd replaced the original sashes in our 1836 cottage to a very high standard. We were keen to retain the original window profiles and after extensive research only The Heritage & Restoration Group Ltd came close to meeting our demands. The work was carried out on time by their experienced staff who were professional and very pleasant. Great care was taken to ensure we were happy with the end result.
We now have windows which are beautifully made, that closely match the originals but are warmer and virtually condensation free.
